In 1992 the property owners, Helen & Terry, were looking for a get-away outside of Austin when they discovered Spicewood and fell in love with it!
They planned to just come out on weekends, but soon began building the Cottage which was complete in 1993 and moved into it full-time in 1996 until the main house was completed in 1997.

I’ve always said it’s not what you go through that makes you the person you are, it’s how you react to the situation that you’re dealt with that makes you the person you are! You can read about the quality of strength here in my previous post.
Many environments offer support systems; however, if you find yourself without a job or out of school because of what you’ve been going through, finding the support you need is a challenge in itself.
Since then several people have stayed in the Cottage for an extended time and since 2010 for short stays.
Helen and Terry are both retired and have enjoyed hosting many wonderful visitors to the Spicewood Cottage.
